Kumbh Mela Haridwar

Haridwar is the center of the Kumbh Mela held every 12 years since time immemorial wherein lakhs of people from all over the country and now the world come to find inner solace and salvation by taking a dip in the holy waters of the Ganga.

The largest of several sacred ghats (bathing steps), Har Ki Pauri hosts a nightly Ganga Aarti (river-worshipping ceremony) in which tiny flickering lamps are floated off the steps. Worshipers fill the city during major festivals including the annual Kanwar Mela.

Kawar Mela Haridwar

Every year during the month of Sawan, crowds of Shiva devotees are seen in Haridwar. This festival is known as Kawar Mela. Lakh of devotees take holy bath at har ki pauri and bring holy water along with his Kawad. This fair is held for approximately one month (Sawan Mahina).
