Sati Kund Mandir Haridwar

According to Sakandha Purana, King Daksh Prajapati organized the yagya. All the gods and goddesses were invited to this festival. But Daksha did not invite Lord Shiva and his daughter Sati. Despite Lord Shiva's refusal, she reached Mahayagya and saw that there was no seat for Shiva. Enraged, Mother Sati sacrificed her life by jumping into the Yagya. After the death of Goddess Sati, Shiva created Veerbhadra from his hair. Veerabhadra destroyed the yajna of King Daksha and beheaded him. After this, Shiva started roaming in the universe carrying the dead body of Sati. To stop this, Lord Vishnu ji reached there and cut the burnt body of Mother Sati into 52 pieces with Sudarshan Chakra. Where those 52 pieces had fallen. Those are known as 52 Shakthipeeth of goddesses. Satikund is the genesis of these Shaktipeeth in Kankhal, Haridwar.
