Lakshman Jhula Rishikesh

Lakshman Jhula is a bridge over the Ganga River in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. It is used for walking as well as motorcycles. It was built in 1929 by UPPWD. This bridge is about 284 feet long. It is one of the tourist attractions in Rishikesh. Lakshman Jhula suspension bridge is made of wires. Tourists from here enjoy the amazing view of the Ganga river and many people also take selfies here. In ancient times, Lord Ram's brother Lakshman had built this bridge from jute. Lakshman Ji crossed the river Ganga with the help of jute ropes. Therefore it is known as Laxman Jhula Bridge.

Initially, this suspension bridge was built with Jute ropes but was later innovated by iron wires. It is said that many years ago people used this bridge to go from one village to another.
